Penleigh House Penleigh House has been established since 1997. Penleigh care home is a situated in the sought after area of Downend nr Bristol. Penleigh care home is a large Victorian four story property. The house, grounds/gardens and specialized buildings have been very tastefully and sensitively designed to promote independence and have wheelchair access throughout. The home is tastefully designed with passenger lift and specialist equipment to suit every individual’s level of need.

Penleigh House is a unique home that offers a friendly, homely ambiance that is lost in other care homes. Penleigh offers state of the art facilities that have huge benefits to people with complex needs living at Penleigh House.

Penleigh is in the forefront in moving with the times and changes within the caring field, as we constantly re-invest in the home, facilities and team. The home is specially designed for clients with physical disabilities and full wheelchair access is accessible throughout the home, grounds and specialist buildings.

Penleigh House offers 10 individualised spacious bedrooms over three levels two of which have their own individual wet rooms.

Penleigh gate house

Penleigh gate house – a new development and training centre for clients to learn and develop new skills and experiences, this facility can be used on a 1:1, within a small group or as a social environment. Many different techniques and interaction can be used to suit each individual from peg, flash cards, Makaton signs and symbols, visual and audio aids, taste and smell, touch and textile, vibration, music therapy and computer eye hand coordination. Benefits – relax, learn new skills, stimulate, have fun, promote independence, empowerment and fulfilment.

Penleigh also offers a therapeutic sensory room with large heated water bed, ball pool, floor to ceiling colour changing bubble tubes, special effect 360% projector for all round visual effects. A variety of audio sensory music which includes the following benefits – calming, relaxing, therapeutic to the mind and body, visual, stimulating and fun.

We promote wellbeing through a variety of gentle exercise, activities and a choice of good diet and we support clients in networking with local communities, this can enrich lives and is a great way to meet and build new friendships and experience new opportunities. All community and social networking is needs led and personal centred to each individual, thus offering choice, empowerment and independence to individuals so clients can lead more enriched and fulfilling lives.

All clients are supported with medical needs and requirements through local medical centres, hospitals and community learning difficulties teams (CLDT) which include GP, chiropody, optician, dentist, psychologists, dietician, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapist, orthotics and prosthetic services all are accessed on a ad hoc basis.

Each individuals religious and cultural needs are met, there are many places of worship within the area.

We promote healthy eating through choice of a wide variety of nutritional foods of all cultures and religions. All individual special dietary need and requirements are met within the home

Other facilities activities and social networks we offer are – new experiences and hobbies such as caring for animals, attending farms and stables, learning new skills, such as Shintaido, Tai Chi, and art groups exploring local communities and wider net works, visits to exhibitions, museums and places of interest. Penleigh has several vehicles to suit every individuals needs, from a large disable accessible minibus with electric rear tail lift. A fully converted people carrier fully disable accessible including electric moving seats for easy transfer, and a large estate vehicle. Penleigh House is close to a main bus route and within 5 miles of Bristol city centre, which has an abundance of culture and history, many places of interest and architecture and places of worship. Bristol city centre also offers fully wheelchair friendly shopping malls.
